Dedication of the war memorial honours board at the annual service of 1st Portadown BB Old Boys’ Association on February 28, 2016 in Thomas Street Methodist Church, Portadown
There was a large congregation on Sunday, February 28, 2016 in Thomas Street Methodist Church for 1st Portadown Company Boys’ Brigade Old Boys’ Association’s Annual Service.
Guest preacher was the Rev. William Davison (Newtownabbey Methodist Mission) who gave a challenging and inspiring address.
The main focal point of the service was the dedication of a new war memorial honours board in memory of former members of the Company who had given their lives in the service of their Country. The names honoured were ; Wilfred Wright, Samuel Webb, Thomas Dawson, David Dawson Todd, George Pentland, David Gillis, David McClatchey, Ernest Bramwell Blair, Samuel Joseph Clayton, Robert Buckley and Andrew Wood. Family representatives of the deceased were in attendance at the service. The board will be on display in the Association’s clubrooms, located in the Church’s suite of halls.
Also taking part in the service were Rev. Kenneth Robinson (Portadown Methodist District Superintendent), Rev. Aian Ferguson (Portadown Methodist Circuit Superintendent), Rev. Mark Durrell, Mr. Kenneth Vennard BEM (Company Captain, 7th Portadown Boys’ Brigade), Mr. Ryan Harris (organist), with special music from Portadown Male Voice Choir.

Supper was served at the close of the service by Thomas Street Methodist Church’s catering team.
