1st Portadown Company B.B. Old Boys’ Association’s ‘Stew Night’ took place on Friday, November 4 in Thomas Street Methodist Church (Upper Room) and the Association’s clubrooms.
Approximately 15 members and guests enjoyed an interesting talk by the Rev. Thomas Stevenson, minister of Thomas Street Methodist Church, followed by a delicious meal consisting of Irish Stew, Apple Pie and Cream and tea/coffee. Following the meal, a snooker tournament took place with eight guys entering a single frame knock-out competition, competing for the Amos Jeffers Perpetual Trophy.
RESULTS ; QUARTER – FINALS – Andrew Millar defeated Trevor Brady, Jim Johnston defeated Billy McCann, Kenneth Moffett defeated Rev. Thomas Stevenson, Ronald Ankin defeated Leonard Gillis.
SEMI – FINALS – Jim Johnston defeated Andrew Millar, Ronald Ankin defeated Kenneth Moffett.
FINAL – Jim Johnston defeated Ronald Ankin.
Trophies were presented by Steven Wright (Chairman) and Brian Morrison (Vice-Chairman).
A word of thanks to Colin Crawford (Tesco), who supplied the majority of the food, a member of the Association who gave an anonymous cash donation as well as the Catering Team from Thomas Street Methodist Church for their assistance and hard work on the evening.
